HERBIE KUANG
She/Her. For this series, I focused on colour and lighting, and photographed public places at night. Then, I used Photoshop to make part of the pictures in black and white. Every photograph leaves parts of the lights, maybe the street lights or the neon lights. The black and white background symbolizes the pandemic that people are still going through. The light symbolizes that even in a ‘dark age’, there will still be light and hope. I want to use the work to pay tribute to the medical staff all over the world, and all the essential workers as well. At the same time, everyone is told that no matter what kind of difficulty they are in, there is always hope. I hope my photos can create a kind of light that makes people feel warm even though the streets are almost empty during this period.
